    15th July – 26th July, Mon to Fri 10am – 5pm Lunch break 1pm-2pm

This is the course to do once you have completed Start Sailing. Having picked up the basic skills on Start Sailing, you are now ready to expand your horizons. During this two week course, we concentrate on boat handling and seamanship skills. By the end of the course, you should be confident to helm your own dinghy in light wind conditions without assistance from your instructor.

    Please Note:

When applying for courses at the level of Improving Skills and above, it is important that the sailor has logged some sailing time following the previously completed course in order to consolidate the skills learned. A sailor moving directly up to the next level without having sailed since the previous course will find it difficult to achieve the required standard needed to pass the course assessment.

  • 15th July – 26th July, Mon to Fri 10am – 5pm Lunch break 1pm-2pm

You should have completed, or have experience equivalent to the Basic Skills course before doing Improving Skills.

If you have got to grips with basic skills in light-moderate winds and now want to move on and develop your boat handling, seamanship and confidence, this course is ideal. Plenty of time spent on practical hands-on sailing. We will also cover all relevant theory such as basic navigation, tides, safety and weather. This two week course will prepare you for the specialist courses ahead.
