The club were delighted to host the Topaz Southern Championships yesterday afternoon (19th May) in glorious sunny sailing conditions with a warm f3-4 westerly breeze enabling three two lap races to take place reports Jim Griffiths.

The newly refurbished and relaunched ‘Accolade‘ acted as committee boat (even providing hot beverages to the race organisers!). Fifteen boats lined up on the start line including four boats who made the trip over from Glandore to take part. The first two races were won by Glandore Harbour Sailing Club sailor Eolann Miles with two BSC boats in hot pursuit, but the third race turned the form on it’s head with Alice Bushe and Daisy Griffiths winning by a good margin.  Eolann made his way back up the fleet from a difficult first leg to a photo finish for joint 5th place. The result promoted Alice and Daisy to first place overall by half a point with Eolann second and Mark Hegarty a further half point back in third.

A great day out and thanks to all who took part and helped out on and off the water.
