Welcome to the Summer! It seems like yesterday we were all busy booking sailing courses for the Summer months whilst knee deep in snow!. Oh how the months have rolled by and the weather has improved dramatically!.

It is wonderful to see 113 sailors take to the water each day in Mediterranean type conditions under the watchful eye of Senior Instructor Pierce Ryan and ably assisted by an energetic team of instructors, boat stewards and helpers.

All members received a Club Calendar of events from the Commodore earlier this year and there is a copy on display in the Clubhouse. There are also updateson all activities on our Facebook page.

The Opening Club Supper was held last Friday night with wonderful catering by Chris Hedges. The dancing continued into the early hours with music by Brian Hennessy.

Marconi Cup training commenced last night with a great turnout. Pierce and Rosa Lyden were delighted with the turnout and training will continue over the coming weeks. This year’s Marconi Cup (Team Racing Competition) will be held in Crookhaven Harbour Sailing Club on July 28th.

The first Club Supper of the season is tonight and is fully booked out. The guest chefs are Christine & Paul Reilly and Maria & Martin Kennedy. Bookings for the club suppers are taken at the clubhouse after racing each Saturday evening for the following Wednesday night. These book up fast so don’t delay.

There is a Members Coffee morning every Tuesday and a get together with coffee for parents of sailors on the course on the first Thursday morning of the July and August courses. All welcome. Next Tuesday 17th July the coffee morning is in aid of the RNLI.

The Adult Try Sailing Course is from 23rd to 27th July and the sign up sheet is on the noticeboard. Full details available from the Club Stewards.

The July Lousy Cup will continue this Saturday for all dinghy sailors. First Gun is 1055 hours.

Afternoon Harbour Racing is held every Saturday for Sloops, Keelboats and 1720’s – briefing at the Clubhouse at 1400 hours. There is a Members Social and Race prizegiving after racing each Saturday night at 1700 hours.
