Welcome to Summer 2020.  I am delighted to see some normality return to the club given everything that has happened in the world since the beginning of the year.

Given the Covid 19 pandemic and the HSE restrictions/regulations in place regarding social distancing we have revised our plans over the past number of months and unfortunately are not running any Irish Sailing accredited courses this year.  We have also had to cancel all junior taster and adult taster courses.  We have been in contact with all junior sailing applicants since the beginning of April with updates.

Junior Sailing

We are happy to announce that Junior Sailing will begin on Monday 6th July for all level 3 standard sailors (Clinic 1).   Clinic one will run from 6th – 10th July.

Clinic Two (level 4 standard sailors) will run from 13th – 24th July.  Sailors on the Adventure clinic will start at 10:30 and finish at 3:30.

Clinic 3 is for all level 3 & 4 sailors and will run from 4th – 15th August (two weeks).

The clubhouse and changing rooms will not be open so sailors will arrive ready to sail and must be able to return home without changing.  We look forward to running some enjoyable coaching for our more competent junior sailors in this very difficult year for us all.

1720 & Sloops

The 1720 Fleet was due to be lifted in on 3rd July but this year even the weather didn’t co-operate.   Lift in is now scheduled for next Friday 10th July and racing for 1720’s and Sloops will commence Saturday 11th July.

Club Merchandise 2020

We have a new online store on the website with Club Merchandise for 2020 available to pre-order.  Order before July 6th and your order will be ready for pick up week beg. 20th July.  Alternatively, you can order by 27th July  for pick up the week beg. 10th August.  Given the clubhouse will be closed, we will not have a physical shop or samples for “try ons” this year.  Check out the online store here.

Employment

As we are not running Irish Sailing courses we have not employed any helpers, club stewards and only a reduced number of boat stewards and instructors/coaches this Summer.

Social Sailing

Peter Murphy has agreed to reprise his famous fun treasure hunts from many years ago.  These will run around the harbour – keep an eye on the club noticeboard/facebook page for updates.

We also hope to run some fun sailing on Wednesday afternoons.  Everything from cruisers to luggers and dinghies will be welcome.  We hope to see all ages on the water to participate in these fun afternoons.

Whilst this year is unlike any previous, we hope that everyone has an enjoyable and safe time on the water this Summer.
