August started out very busy with the Baltimore Cup/ Baltimore Village Regatta and August Sailing Courses commencing all within a couple of days on the calendar.

The RNLI Auction and cocktail party was held on Friday 9th and as usual there was great support for this event.  Auctioneer Morgan O’Driscoll did a wonderful job in getting through an amazing array of lots on the night.  The festivities continued with many also attending the “Over 25 Disco” later in the evening.

The club hosted the Tidy Towns Committee for their annual fundraising coffee morning which was very well attended and many left the club with beautiful plants and homemade delights!.

The International Moth fleet visited Baltimore for the first time and we were delighted to welcome them to the harbour.  Unfortunately the weather conditions led to the cancellation of all racing on the Saturday but Sunday saw sunshine, breeze and rain which allowed the Moths complete their series.  Alistair Kissane from Howth Yacht Club was the overall winner.  Full report can be found here.

The club sailors were able to watch the Moths up close as they were all afloat for the Rambler 100 Team Racing Event.   Full report is available here.

The Women on the Water event was held on 15th August and what a day it was.  The sun shone, the brave swam and the rest of us enjoyed a treasure hunt on land and sea beforereturning to the club for a great evening.  Photos and write up here.

The Heir Island Olympics were held on August 18th.  Well done to the O’Keeffe family for organising this fun event.

The closing club supper was held Friday 23rd August with Chris Hedges in the kitchen providing another great night of food and fun for all those in attendance.

The August Lousy Cup for Dinghies finally got underway last Saturday 24th.  Every other Saturday had been cancelled due to too much breeze or too little!.  The dinghy sailors got two races completed to conclude the August “Lousy Cup”.  Hopefully the weather will be kinder to the young sailors for the Catalogues Cup.  Full details on the club programme/calendar.

The 1720 Irish Nationals sponsored by Ropedock commence on Friday morning next 30th August with lift in/launching and crew registrations taking place on Thursday evening.  Full details can be found on the event page here.

Club Merchandise – Did you order club merchandise/clothing?  Have you collected it?  The clubhouse will be open this weekend for any last minute collections.
